Bilingual Education - It Starts Early!

do bilingual or multilingual kids learn languages already in the womb that's the

question I want to answer today so stick with me because at the end of the video

you will get three very practical tips hello everybody and welcome to

multilingual family a vlog for cosmopolitan people as a teacher

specialized in languages and having been raised myself bilingual now I'm raising

my kids trilingual I am happy to share with you what I've learned throughout my

life and water so let's get started what do the newest scientific findings say

about learning languages already in the womb well it seems that babies have the

capability to absorb words and sounds already before being born new research

shows that more development is happening than previously suspected what babies

here before and in the months after their birth affects how they perceive

sound scientists have discovered as well that during the first nine months of

life babies are particularly susceptible for sounds which could be an indication

that babies confronted with different languages during this period of time are

more likely to be able to speak via languages accent free later on so now

now that we know all this what can you do to the poor do bilingual or

multilingual child so first of all talk a lot speak to your baby as often as you

can scientists say that ten weeks before labour kids are very the babies are very

susceptible for all the sounds that are coming mostly for the sounds that the

mother makes so talk to your child in your mother tongue as often as you can

the second tip would be make your partner

your friends your family your parents talk to the baby as well mostly if they

speak another language that you don't speak make that make me them talk to the

to the belly you never know what wonderful effects that will have later

on on the child's development language development the third tip would be okay

what do you do if you don't have parents friends that speak any other language

that you would like your child to learn but you still want to give your child a

little bit of support so what you could do is you could use technology find some

good stories and the language that you prefer

let's say you want your child to speak French later on okay find some nice

stories where you can hear clearly what they are saying I mean where the

pronunciation is good and use it once in a while put it on your belly and play it

for a few minutes maybe just five minutes at a time

make sure that it's not too loud you know you don't want to you don't want to

you baby to have a shock if it's too loud and and yes that's it do you have
