The period of time to recover from a colon cancer procedure
operation--
again, I will tell you that a lot of it
is dependent on the patient.
The co-morbidities that the patient brings to the operating
room are the same co-mobidities that they will have
to navigate as they recover.
But by and large, minimally-invasive
or laparoscopic or robotic procedure, a patient
will recover from faster.
Most patients can get back to normal activities
within a couple of weeks, if the procedure
is done robotically or laparoscopically or
minimally-invasive.
So in comparison, an open procedure
may take four to six weeks to recover,
where a patient is up and about and able to do
normal activities or activities of daily living,
as we call them.
