hello everybody its Delilah and welcome
back to my channel today's video is
gonna be all about cloth diapering
everything from the different types of
diapers to how to deal with poop to how
to wash them I'm gonna cover absolutely
everything that I can think of in this
video this is gonna be a guide more so
for beginners people who have no idea
what they're doing we recently started
cloth diapering about three months ago
I'm not an expert by any means that I
have done so much research I have
learned so much I went from knowing
nothing from using disposables for two
and a half years to now knowing a lot
about cloth diapering and being very
comfortable with it in the three months
that we've been doing it so again I'm by
no means an expert but I do have a lot
of good information that I want to share
with you this is also a very very highly
requested video and it's gonna be the
kind of video that I wish I would have
had when I started cloth diapering a lot
of the information that I've actually
learned has been from you guys you guys
have been so helpful teaching me the ins
and outs of cloth diapering as well as
my cousin in law and dear friend Kiera
barkman she's been encouraging me to do
cloth diapering for years every time I
had a question I always went straight to
Cara because she knows what she's
talking about she's very informative
honestly when it comes to anything
motherhood I've always gone over to her
she has a blog called growing up barkman
and she is doing a series about cloth
diapering her first post is going live
today the day that you're watching this
so this is kind of in collaboration with
her she's gonna be talking about is it
worth it money-wise it cloth diapering
gonna save you money to be perfectly
honest I haven't done number crunching
so I actually don't know that's one
question I'm not able to answer in
today's video but if you want to know
the answer to that you can head over to
my description box I will have her blog
post as well as her blog linked below
and her Instagram as well if you want to
go follow her there when that blog post
goes live I too will be going over there
and checking it out because I still
don't know the answer to that question
she was also a Canadian mama she's not
near where I am unfortunately our
relationship is mostly via text message
but we had babies right around the same
time so her first is almost three years
old his name is Landon and then they
just had a little baby girl her name is
Adeline and she is two months younger
than
Theodore again if you want to check
around a leaf or links below anyways I
need to wrap up this intro because this
is going to be a very long video I went
over to Instagram I got you guys to ask
me all the questions everything you want
to know about cloth diapering so I
really hope I don't miss anything in
this video I'll leave a guide here as
well as in the description box to scroll
down there if you have like a specific
question that way it's really easy you
can just skip to that part of the video
and learn all about that without further
ado let's get into this different types
of cloth diapers we're going to start at
the very beginning there's a variety of
different brands different kinds of
cloth diapers different versions of
those kinds of cloth diapers but I'm
gonna break it up into about three
different kinds the first kind and maybe
the most common kind is the all-in-one a
cloth diaper cons to this one they're
expensive they're usually quite pricey
they're probably the least customizable
they can be a little bit hard to clean
in poopy situations but pros they're
like the easiest diaper you can possibly
imagine basically they're like put it on
your baby take it off put it in the wash
put it back in the drawer
done there's no stuffing no folding no
nothing that you have to do with them
they're just ready to go this is one
version of an all-in-one cloth diaper
this is my lip a teat horse again every
brand will have a different variation of
the all-in-one diaper but this
particular one has a black charcoal
lining which I kind of like because
since they can be a little bit tough to
clean this just makes it a little bit
more stain proof what you will notice
about all-in-one diapers is that they
have built-in flaps that is the big perk
about all-in-one diapers is that
everything's built in so typically there
will be a flap sewed in right here as
well as down here and then you can fold
them arrange them however you want to
according to what you need but they're
usually sewn right in what I like about
this particular one is that this flap
actually comes right out just with snaps
so you'll notice there's only one flap
and that's because on this particular
one the second liner is just sewn right
in there like there's no flaps nothing
it's sewn right in that makes it
extremely convenient so if you just want
a one liner you're good to go but if you
wanted a second one snap it
that's kind of the gist of an all-in-one
diaper is the one that we actually have
chosen to use is the pocket diaper
pocket diapers are about mid-range price
and cons to these is that you do need to
stuff them usually before you wash them
you'll have to take the liner's right
out before you put them into the wash
pros they're quite customizable you can
put hover mini inserts into the pocket
that you want to put in this top
material typically has that like stay
dry feeling that a disposable diaper has
but the reason it's called a pocket
diaper is because it has a pocket that
you have to step some pocket IPERS have
two openings right here and right here
which makes it really nice you don't
actually have to take the liners out
before you throw them in the wash
because they'll just come out on their
own but most pocket diapers only have
one opening you just take the liner
liner or liners you can have multiple in
there if you wanted to and then you just
stuff it right in so that's kind of the
gist of the pocket diaper the last
diaper is a diaper cover with a pre fold
now this is what I actually thought we
were going to use but after some trial
and error we ended up not going with
this kind so for this method there is
just a plain waterproof diaper cover or
you can get wool diaper covers as well
it's just the diaper cover there's no
lining no padding and then you get your
own pre folds and you have to put them
inside put it on your baby just like
that it's pros to these they are the
most affordable there's a lot less
material so it takes up a lot less space
and you don't actually have to change
the cover every time you change your
baby if this isn't wet you can just take
the insert out wipe it down and put a
new insert inside instead of changing
the whole diaper another pro is that
these are the most customizable diaper
out there so as you can see I folded
down the flap you can add extra liners
you can get really big ones you can get
really small ones there's all kinds of
different liners you can put in here so
roughly that kind of covers the
different types of cloth diapers now one
other thing to take note of is that
summarize will sell small and large
diapers which means you'd have to get
two sets but most brands sell a one size
diaper and that's what we've gone with
so a one size diaper it fits from about
8 pounds to potty training so you only
need to buy one set of diapers and
you're good to go
but to give you an idea of what one size
means you undo these snaps you'll see
there's a whole bunch of
and so these these rows down here this
adjusts the size so for a smaller baby
you would take this one and this one and
match them up that decreases the length
of the diaper and therefore makes the
diaper smaller if this is on a large
baby or a toddler you could undo all the
snaps that extends the diaper and makes
it a lot larger these snaps up here
these adjust how tight it is around your
baby's waist it can go really small for
new babies and like overlap like this or
they can go all the way out here
depending on what your need those are
snapped diapers but there's also velcro
diapers promise this is the last
variation I'm going to show you but
again this is another pocket diaper and
as you can see there are no snaps on the
front it's velcro the part where you
adjust the length that is still snaps
but the part around the waist is velcro
so this is a lot like a disposable
diaper in the sense that you undo the
velcro wrap it around your baby's waist
this gets a really nice custom fit to
your baby for us it's really helped with
preventing leaks the one downside about
velcro is that they might not last as
long after wear and tear in washing then
snaps my different types of inserts so
sorry to overwhelm you with all the
different types of diapers but now I'm
also going to overwhelm you with more
options there are different kinds of
inserts there's at least five that I
know of there may be more actually to be
honest I'm not even sure the ones that
I've stumbled across are cotton that is
usually what the pre folds are made out
of and these are typically used in the
pre fold and diaper cover method so you
can get a variety of different sizes and
thicknesses you can get bleached
unbleached there's a variety of
different options you have just with
cotton alone next is bamboo and this is
I think maybe the most common material
especially in pocket IPERS as well as
all-in-one diapers it's a softer very
absorbent material next is black
charcoal bamboo I've heard a lot of
people swear by black charcoal I've
heard that it absorbs better and I've
heard it's really good for stains but to
be perfectly honest in the end I don't
think it matters that much next two
types are a little bit different and
they are used more so as boosters or
liners to go into a pocket diaper not up
against the baby
but the first one is microfiber now I'm
personally not a huge fan of the
microfiber it's pretty bulky and I don't
love the feeling of it I've heard it's
not supposed to go up against a baby's
bum and I don't blame them I wouldn't
want that up against my bum but we do
have some diapers with microfiber in
them and it is really absorbent and it
works really well the very last kind of
material is hemp this is one of my
favorites it's not the softest it is
quite stiff but according to the
research I've done is the most absorbent
and the least bulky we really love using
these as boosters in our diapers
especially overnight or for going
anywhere it really helps to just soak up
a lot without adding all of that extra
bulk which diaper is right for you it's
really just a process of trial and error
from what I've told you and from what
you've researched consider the pros and
cons of each of the kinds of diapers
kinds of materials consider what might
fit best into your lifestyle what might
fit best for your baby go to kijiji if
you live in Canada go to face book
marketplace there's even Facebook groups
and pages looks them up in your local
area that are dedicated to cloth
diapering where basically people just
talk about cloth diapering what's worked
for them what hasn't they're very
informative and a lot of those pages
will also sell cloth diapers as well
what's nice about buying secondhand is
that a lot of people a lot of people buy
these cloth diapers realize whatever
version they're trying isn't really
working for them and then they go and
sell it so a lot of them are very
lightly used and there's usually quite a
wide variety of diapers on there as well
so if you're wanting to experiment to
get a good idea of what kind of diapers
are out there and which diapers you
might like best that is a really good
place to look you may surprise yourself
with what kinds you end up liking most
we were lungs time convinced that we're
gonna go with the covers and pre folds
method and we ended up going with pocket
diapers instead everybody's different
everyone has a different lifestyle and
every baby pees differently and requires
you know different layers different
diapers different brands what are my
favorite brands we have a few favorite
brands but honestly almost everything we
have tried we've been able to make work
and we have enjoyed the first brand is
Nora's nursery these are the cheapest
and the
the nicest patterns in my opinion I mean
there's a lot of different crazy
patterns up there and I like just plain
and simple and so we got the Pacific
neutrals pack I think it's called we
have two of them
the downside to Knorr nursery though
they no longer ship to Canada
I'm so sorry Canadians as a Canadian
myself this is extremely frustrating
they recently stopped shipping to Canada
because too many people were complaining
living in Canada the cost of currency
exchange as well as duty fees applies
and it gets pricey but even with that
cost these are still cheaper than a lot
of other brands out there so I'm really
disappointed that all those Canadians
had to complain actually message them
when I was about to order my second pack
and they did make an exception for me so
maybe they'll make an exception for you
anyways this is the first brand we use
the one downside to these is that they
only come with one insert and we've
discovered that we needed to so I have
purchased extra inserts these are the
ANP inserts I ordered one for each of
the Norris nurseries diapers that we
have these are made of hemp they're
small or skinny they're great I love
them next brand is the petite horse and
this is quite an affordable Canadian
brand they carry all kinds of different
diapers and actually really cute
patterns they do snaps they do velcro
they've got all the kinds of diapers we
also have a wet bags from them as well
what I really love about these is that
they have double gussets on their
diapers really help contain things they
have two openings so there's one here
one here I'm not a huge fan of their
all-in-one diapers that's what this one
is vo just had a lot of leaks with these
they might do really good for other
babies I don't know but they're velcro
pocket diapers love them and the last
round we have is the bum genius brand
these are the original pocket diapers
some genius diapers are expensive and as
a Canadian they are like impossible to
get ahold of I still want to order a few
more of these but I'm still waiting for
stores to have them back in stock I
can't order them straight from the bum
genius website because they don't ship
to Canada so I got to go to like other
stores too it's the whole thing I don't
know what it is about mom to use diapers
but they have the fit perfect like
perfect
even their flipped diapers which is
their version with just the cover we've
had no leaks with these like bum genius
diapers just fits so good by the way
I'll have all the diapers and everything
linked below so it's easy for you guys
to find what age is the best age to
start that's really pom personal
preference we only started cloth
diapering around 6 months I've never
cloth diaper a newborn so I don't
actually have experience with that but
typically one sized diapers don't fit a
newborn anyway they fit from about 8
pounds and up so for us it just doesn't
make sense to go and buy newborn size
cloth diapers only to use them for about
two months and then put them into
storage just a lot of money to spend on
cloth diapers that we're hardly gonna
use so I think for us and I think this
is what a lot of people do as well is
disposable diaper up until they fit into
cloth diapers and then cloth diaper from
there but again that's totally up to you
how many do you need consider how often
you change your baby in a day and
consider how many times you want to be
washing or cloth diapers so for us we
changed Theo about five to seven times a
day and I want to wash my diapers every
two to three days so according to that
we need about 28 diapers and 28 has been
perfect actually we don't even have that
money yet we have about 24 diapers right
now I still want to order more bum
genius diapers right now we have 24
diapers and it is like it's a good
number we also have three large wet bags
one for each of our room so one for his
room one for our room because we changed
him in both locations and then another
bag to replace once that one goes into
the wash as well as a few small wet bags
they smell wet bags we use and when we
travel so like in the bin and the diaper
bag whenever we leave the house we
always make sure to pack one of those
but yeah about 28 diapers I think is the
average we wash the diapers once the wet
bags are full so about every two to
three days and at that point we still
have about half of our stash left so
that by the time the diapers are washed
and folded and put away the next cycle
is ready to be put in the wash
troubleshooting leaks we dealt with a
lot of leaks in the beginning mostly
because the tune when we know what I was
doing but also Theo is a very heavy peer
and I wasn't quite used to boys peeing
so much
more in the front then throughout the
entire diaper I was kind of documenting
my cloth diapering journey and when I
mentioned this on Instagram a lot of
people said when it comes to cloth
diapering you just have to change them
twice as much and I knew that if that
was true then cloth diapering would just
not be an option for us because that
means we'd be changing Theo like ten to
fourteen times a day that's ten to
fourteen diapers that's twice as many
diapers that we would need to buy and
store it'd be really expensive and so
much more work to change him all the
time and to clean and to stuff and to
put away that just didn't seem right to
me so instead I tested and tried a few
different things so I made sure that the
fit first of all was right although the
fit honestly isn't the biggest issue I
thought it was I thought the reason they
were leaking so much is because the
diapers just didn't fit feel properly
but that actually wasn't the case if
you're not sure you're putting the
diaper on your baby properly there are
tons of tutorials online on how to
properly put a cloth diaper on your baby
and be aware that there will be a bit of
a gap right up by the belly when your
baby stands and that's totally normal
that's fine and shouldn't be an issue
with leaking as long as it's not like a
gigantic gap but what's even more
important than the fit is the amount of
layers that you have try adding layers
try different materials try different
brands that is really what did it for us
the Nords nursery diapers only have one
layer and that just was not enough so we
ended up putting another layer in there
and ever since then we've been pretty
much leak free if just adding a simple
layer and there still isn't quite enough
you can try folding the extra inserts
inside in a way that will absorb better
if that makes sense like for a boy for
example they often pay more in the front
so if you have one layer in there then
you can take another layer and instead
of just laying it on top you can fold it
in half near the front where they need
more absorbency that could really help
prevent a lot of weeks if it's just not
working for you maybe try a different
brand to try a different type of diaper
for us all-in-one diapers just leaked a
lot and so that's part of the reason why
we went with pocket diapers instead but
try different brands try different
materials we've been able to make
multiple different brands work for us
cloth diapering in public I feel like
this is one of
things that people get really nervous
about but you know what it's not that
hard it is not a lot of people I know
who cloth diaper cloth diaper at home
and then when they go out for an outing
whatever they put their baby in the
disposable as well as at night they put
the baby in the disposable and like
there's no judgement against that that's
fine but I new for us at this point in
the game probably wouldn't really be
worth it to switch to cloth diapering
unless we did it all the time so that's
what we do we do it at night when we go
to church we go shopping when we go to
visit somebody's house really the only
difference with cloths I bring in public
is that you need to bring the dirty
diaper with you everywhere you go that's
the only difference you can't just throw
it in the garbage so the biggest thing
to remember when cloth diapering in
public is to make sure that you always
always always pack a wet bag the webpage
will prevent any leaks from happening
and all the stuff that's in your diaper
bag and it prevents any smell from
escaping
so obviously make sure you bring some of
those and make sure you bring a couple
of cloth diapers with you as well you're
good to go one thing to take note of
though is compression leaks this is
something we learned the hard way when I
put Theo in the car seat every time we
would go out he would have the biggest
craziest leaks he would be soaking wet
it's something you totally didn't think
about but if you put your baby in a
tight car seat and the diaper is soaking
wet the compression is going to squeeze
some of that liquid out of the diaper
and so that causes a lot of leaks you
might just need to change your baby a
little bit more frequently when you're
out and about cloth diapering overnight
this takes some trial and error it's not
going to be perfect right off the bat
Theo as I've said is a heavy Pierre and
he used to leak through disposable
diapers all the time it was obvious that
he was going to leak through cloth
diapers at first until we figured it out
if you missed it go back to the
troubleshooting leaks portion of this
video use the information I talked about
there to troubleshoot leaks for
overnight you may need to use an extra
layer overnight and you normally do
during the day we just use two layers
and differing materials we've got a
really good system down so for each of
these there are two layers in the bum
genius ones we use them just as they
come so in the bum genius diapers the
inserts are microfiber there's one
short one this is the newborn one and
then there's one long one but what I
love about this is that there is a snap
so you can fold part of it up layer the
second one on top there's two layers of
absorbency and then an extra layer in
front for the absorbency that little
boy's neat with the Knorr nursery
diapers like I've mentioned we had to
order extra inserts and so using the
bamboo insert it came with and the hemp
insert that I ordered using two layers
makes the diaper fit better absorb
better we hardly ever have any leaks
with these now and then the last system
that we use is the levity force use the
velcro ones so we can just get a much
better fit with the velcro and we just
use the two inserts that came with it
they came with two bamboo inserts these
are like extra soft but they're very
absorbent fit really well use those
combinations during the day when we go
out throughout the night we don't do
anything special for overnight and that
system really works for us we hardly
have any leaks sensitivity and dealing
with rashes thankfully Theo hasn't had
any rashes due to the diapers and he
does have pretty sensitive skin
typically cloth diapers are actually
better for sensitive skin than
disposable diapers but if you do run
into that issue you can always try
different materials and different brands
maybe your baby's skin doesn't like
bamboo or doesn't like cotton that could
be a cause for the reaction maybe try
detergent that's better for sensitive
skin for babies or something a little
more natural try switching that at first
that's that's usually the issue if your
baby is prone to rashes we've always
used cornstarch on our baby's bum rather
than actual diaper creams cornstarch is
totally baby safe it's a lot more
natural I just feel like it does a much
better job than creams do and when Theo
does get a rash because he does some
pretty sensitive skin we'll just use
more cornstarch than usual we'll just
we'll just pack it on there talked about
this before but the way that we use
cornstarch as we make a little
cornstarch poof so we'll take like a
baby face cloth we'll spoon some
cornstarch into it and it'll take the
ends and we'll tie it up and it makes a
little hoop but if your baby has a
really bad rash and it's just not going
away you might need to get a stronger
diaper cream but just make sure that it
is cloth diaper safe there are a lot of
diaper creams out there that are not
safe for cloth diapering and will
actually ruin your cloth diapers so
the case that you need to get one of
those diaper creams just switch
disposable for a few days and then go
back to cloth diapers after dealing with
poop this is one of the most commonly
asked questions how do you deal with
poop I promise it's not as gross as it
sounds in fact before babies start
eating solids it's not even necessary to
dispose of poop exclusively breastfed or
exclusively formula fed babies their
poop is water-soluble which means that
you don't have to scrape it out into the
toilet before it goes in the wash when
your baby poops you can just change them
and throw it into the web egg and then
throw it into the wash you don't need to
worry about it it'll come out it won't
make anything stink
I promise washing machine will take care
of it all for you the one issue with
newborn poop though and we've we've
never dealt with this because when we
start a cloth diapering field started
eating solid food the new born poop can
stain an easy and very natural way to
get rid of the stains is simply to Sun
bleach them out so you would just wash
the diapers as normal and then instead
of putting them into the dryer to dry
hang them out in direct Sun whether
inside or outside the Sun will take all
of that away but if you're like us and
you live in a house that doesn't get a
lot of natural sunlight and you can't
hang the diapers outside because it's so
cold
literally tomorrow it's supposed to be
minus 50 clearly I cannot hang diapers
out to dry in the Sun so in that case
you can actually just use as normal and
then wait until spring or summer
whenever it gets warmer outside then
hang them outside and the stains
typically will still come out do you
take note though if you're
formula-feeding this is what I've
researched I don't know how much truth
there is to this but I have heard that
formula-fed babies can sometimes have
thicker poop and if that is the case
then you do need to scrape that into the
toilet before you put it into the wash
as long as the poop is very runny and
very yellow very newborn poop it's
totally fine to go in the wash now when
your baby starts eating solid foods that
is when it gets a little bit tricky and
a little bit more gross do yourself a
favor and buy some bamboo liners this is
a game changer you can buy this super
cheap off of the Amazon
just a roll of really really thin bamboo
for each day for change you pull one off
your baby is like a pooping schedule you
don't even have to put these in every
time basically you get a sheet lay it
into the diaper just like so put the
diaper on it just like you normally do
whenever they pee it'll go right through
the liner there'll be no issues with it
leaking or making a mess anywhere it
goes right through soaks into the diaper
as normal but when they poop anything
that is remotely solid even diarrhea
runny poop will stay solely on this like
it will not soak through so when your
baby does poop all you have to do is
take this liner out and either throw it
in the garbage or flush the poop down
the toilet whatever you want to do just
don't flush these these aren't flushable
some say that they're flashable but I
wouldn't flush them shake off the poop
into the toilet throw this in the trash
done you can just throw this in the wash
as normal but if your baby is prone to
explosions vo that's when it gets a
little bit gross there have been a
number of times actually just before I
started filming he had a poop that
escaped the bamboo liner almost almost
went out the back and those cases you do
need to scrape poop into the toilet and
then somehow rinse off the diaper some
people use the toilet bowl method and
they'll just hold the diaper in the
toilet and just like swish it around a
little bit flush the toilet a couple
times that method doesn't work great for
us some people actually have a sprayer
built-in and attached to either their
sink or the toilet I'm not sure but you
can buy them off of Amazon and install
them yourselves it just makes it really
easy you can just spray all the poop
into the toilet or you can do what I do
and just rinse it off in the bathtub
with your hands it's gross but it works
how to wash cloth diapers this category
is far more complicated and then I ever
thought it possibly could be or at least
that's what I thought when I first
started cloth diapering we've got into a
routine I've discovered what works I've
discovered that it's actually not as
complicated as many people like to make
it out to be when I was researching how
to wash cloth diapers everybody said
something different
I'll be honest I don't think there is
one proper way to wash cloth diapers I
think everyone does it their own way and
works for them and when it comes down to
it doesn't matter as much as people say
that it matters that being said there
are some good rules of thumb that you
should be aware of and think about
following I don't know how much truth
there is to this but there is a website
that I went to I will link it down below
they have tested all a variety a huge
variety of different kinds of detergents
in their charts they say whether it is
recommended or is not recommended for
cloth diapers says how much to use so I
use that charge to figure out which
detergent to use I don't actually
measure how much detergent I use which I
probably should but I don't but the
reason for this is that some detergents
actually cause buildup on your diapers
causing them to absorb a lot less than
they should be again I don't know how
much truth there is to this but I
figured I might as well follow that
chart anyway you use a Kirkland kind I
forget what it's called I'll insert a
picture here we use it because it's
cheap and it doesn't have a smell it's
synthetic it's not natural but you know
what it's cheap one day I will convert
to better detergents maybe I'll even
make my own one day but today is not
that day one thing at a time but we use
this Kirkland stuff it works great it's
cheap it doesn't have a smell I'll just
put the detergent in as usual and then
I'll also put some into the pre-wash
section I like to add a few drops of
essential oils just because I have a lot
of essential oils that need to be used
again I'm not an expert so don't quote
me on this I'm just telling you what I
do and then lately I've actually been
adding a vinegar to the wash as well so
I'll add this into where you add like
fabric softener feel like this just
helps to strip the diapers and to really
get rid of those odors I just feel like
it enhances the laundry a little bit
I'll just throw all those things in
throw the diapers in and then on my
settings I just do a normal wash I
typically wash my clothes on cold but
for diapers I will switch it to hot
slush coals now I'm not entirely sure
what that stands for or what that means
but it uses hot and cold water so I like
to use the hot for sanitizing purposes
and cold for removing stains that's all
I do for the wash cycle sometimes I'll
put them through twice if they're still
kind of stinky once they come out and
they'll transfer everything into the
dryer I typically need to dry them
longer than I would
normal clothes because cloth diapers are
made to be absorbent so they absorb more
water they take longer to dry but I dry
them on low and I just throw a couple of
dryer balls in there as well I don't
know if it makes a difference but
they're there they'll dry it on low
usually for two cycles because they need
more time my diapers come out good as
new I have been using these diapers for
three months I haven't used any stain
remover you're not supposed to use stain
remover on diapers and I haven't stunned
them at all they still look brand new
cloth diapers actually made to be pretty
stain resistant so that's awesome every
once in a blue moon it's also a good
idea to strip them I haven't actually
done this yet but it is recommended so
if you notice that your diapers are just
getting really stinky or if they're not
absorbing as much as they used to it
might be time to strip them I'm not
actually sure how to do this it's
something I will be teaching myself in
the near future but you can look it up
research it I think from my
understanding and knowledge all you have
to do is just soak it in some water with
like lemon juice and other stuff for
like half a day or something like that
and then wash them as usual so it's not
like a really long complicated thing but
I've never done it so do not quote me on
that also one last thing to note about
washing diapers is that when you receive
them you will need to wash them three to
four times before using them the more
you wash cloth diapers the more
absorbent they become and when they
first come in the mail they're actually
not very absorbent so wash them at least
three to four times and then they should
be good to go and lastly is it worth it
that depends on your motive I chose to
cloth diaper because it creates far less
waste I can't imagine the waste that we
personally have created in the landfills
just from disposable diaper ring for two
and a half years a lot of diapers it's a
lot of waste that's what really got me a
lot of people say it also saves money to
be honest I'm not actually sure if it
does again if you want to know more
about that topic head over to at Cure's
blog post she'll explain everything
there but I mean especially if you buy
the diapers secondhand and if you use
those diapers on multiple children like
it's guaranteed to at least save you
some money also if you choose to use
cloth wipes I'm sure that would save a
lot of money that's something we've
decided not to
just personal preference it's that's a
whole nother story in something I'm just
not willing to get into maybe one day in
the future but is it worth it yeah I
think so I think it has saved us some
money and think it's a lot better on the
environment and I think cloth diapers
are just really cute honestly all in all
it only takes about half an hour out of
my week to cloth diaper it takes hardly
any time at all to just throw them into
the wash and then takes about ten
minutes
every time I wash the diapers to stuff
them so it's actually kind of
therapeutic I'll just throw on like a
youtube video stuff diapers I would say
that it's worth it all in all it was
really overwhelming at first now that
we've got into a routine now that I
understand everything it's it's so much
easier and I highly recommend cloth
diapering to anybody who is interested I
