hello thank you so much for watching I
want to talk to you about this word
because because there are a lot of my
students that are really surprised that
they can actually start a sentence with
because so yes you can start a sentence
with because you just have to know how
now probably there was a really good
reason there's always a really good
reason why your teacher was telling you
don't start a sentence with because I
know when I was young I got told that as
well
don't start the sentence with because
and there was a reason why they were
telling you that and that's because we
often make a mistake when it comes to
starting a sentence with because so let
me show you how this works so normally
we have a sentence that maybe looks like
this he was tired because he ran 10
miles okay so if I want to start the
sentence with because I can I just take
that because and the actual cause right
because this guy is tired and the cause
of his tiredness is his running ten
miles
so I'm gonna take the cause and I'm
gonna put it first so I'll start the
sentence with because he ran ten miles
comma you need the comma yes and then I
put the effect after I put the he was
tired after the cause okay so it's the
same exact sentence same meaning I've
just taken the second part of the
sentence and put it first and I've taken
this part of the sentence and
it after so these sentences are both
correct the problem is this because he
ran ten miles because he ran ten miles
what what's the effect of that okay and
this is what we call him incomplete
sentence this is not grammatically
correct and this is where your teachers
going ah don't start a sentence with
because don't do it because we were
making this mistake okay so I always say
we learn the rules to break the rules so
yes we might have learned this rule you
can't ever start a sentence with because
but there was a certain reason why our
teachers told us that right to prevent
us from making this mistake but now that
we know right we've advanced in some
levels of knowledge and and wisdom and
now that we know that we have to include
both pieces we'll watch out for that
mistake we won't make that mistake so
yeah we learned this rule because don't
start a sense with it but then we can
break it because now we know better and
so I don't know it applies to English
grammar I feel like it also applies to
our life we come into the world we've
learned some rules and then once we know
they're like okay we get to break them
we learn the rules to break them so have
some fun with that you can start your
sentence with because don't be afraid
just know how to do it
if you have any questions or comments
please leave them below thanks for
watching
